Link Round-up: Sally Ride’s Birthday, Breaking Barriers, and Bad Advice

Google Doodle salutes Sally Ride. This week marks the anniversary of Sally Ride’s (1951-2012) birth. As the first American woman in space, her pioneering efforts helped pave the way for women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Female scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians worldwide are breaking barriers and making incredible contributions to their fields despite the odds. This is what women in STEM look like from around the world.

Science magazine removed an advice column from its website that counseled a female scientist to suppress her discomfort about a male colleague who was ogling her stating “His attention on your chest may be unwelcome, but you need his attention on your science and his best advice.”  What would your advice be?
